In Language arts, we will read the story, Jack and the Beanstalk. Our center work will relate to this story this week. In particular, the children will work to isolate beginning, medial and final sounds in words, tell about the plot of the story, and define how are real and make-believe plants alike and different. The children will continue to work with adjectives in writing activities.
Amazing words: beanstalk, lad, ogre, magic, naughty, lend.
High Frequency words: he, for.
Handwriting and phonics lessons will focus on the letter Ii.
This will be the last story for unit 2 in our reading street series. The children will begin unit 2 assessment this week and testing will conclude next week.
In math, the children will complete chapter 5 in GO math this week. The focus of this chapter is addition.
In religion, we will discuss the start of Advent and complete many activities related to the season of Advent. The main focus of the activities will be to teach the children that Advent is a time to prepare for Jesus to arrive. We have a new Beatitude of the month for December, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” The children will complete lessons related to the new Beatitude and Christmas throughout the month of December.
