In language arts, we will continue to do center work related to the story, A Bed for the Winter. We will read the book, The Sparkle Box which is a wonderful holiday story. The children will write about gifts they want to give to Jesus for Christmas. We will create a new hallway display this week based on this story. In addition, we will read, Bear Stays Up for Christmas and Turkey Claus both books feature familiar characters. The children have heard several stories about Bear and Turkey Claus features our same turkey friend that we read about in the book, Turkey Trouble.
Our handwriting and phonics focus will continue to be related to the letter Ii. The children will have lessons to help reinforce what they are learning about vowels.
Advent begins on November 30th. The children will be completing several lessons this week related to Advent including making an Advent wreath. Our class will create an Advent countdown calendar and each link will be a good deed that we do for someone at our school. We will work together to brainstorm ideas for the good deeds that we can do both at home and school.
In GO math, we will continue working on Chapter 5, the main focus of the chapter is addition. We will not test on this chapter until after the Thanksgiving break.
There will be no school on November, 27th, 28th and December 1st due to the Thanksgiving break.
Many Blessings to your families for a happy, healthy and peaceful Thanksgiving.
